    Complementary Medicines Australia (CMA) is disappointed by the misguided approach in a recent editorial published in the Medical Journal of Australia entitled, ‘Pharmacists selling CAM doesn’t wash’ that attempts to dismiss the proven benefits of complementary medicines and completely fails to acknowledge the significant and every-growing body of research that exists to support these products.

    Complementary Medicines Australia (CMA) has welcomed the announcement by the National Institute of Complementary Medicine (NICM) of a clinical trial for a Chinese herbal medicine, Sailuotong, which has been shown, in pilot studies, to be effective in improving the cognitive and memory impairment associated with vascular dementia.

    At the Blackmores Institute Symposium today, Chief Executive Officer of Complementary Medicines Australia (CMA), Mr Carl Gibson, welcomed results from a University of Sydney study1, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, which show that vitamin B3 (nicotinamide) can cut the risk of new skin cancers by 23 per cent.
