    The TGA is currently progressing through a phased consultation process for the revised Australian Regulatory
    Guidelines for Complementary Medicines (ARGCM), commencing with Part A: General Guidance.

    It is imperative that all Members review the consultation document and make proposed changes within the document to be returned to Emma Burchell at submissions@chc.org.au by COB, Thursday 1 of November.

    The delegate of the Secretary of the Department of Health and Ageing has provided notice of an interim decision on the scheduling of 1,3-dimethylamylamine (DMAA). The delegate proposes that from 1 August 2012 DMAA be listed in Schedule 9 of the Standard for the Uniform Scheduling of Medicines and Poisons (SUSMP).

    The Medical Journal of Australia has published an article highlighting 10 Essential Principles relevant to
    health research among Indigenous Australian populations. These 10 principles should be considered
    from the initial design stage of the project, ideally when consulting with the community and writing
    funding applications.

    The CHC advises members that the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has revised fees and charges for the 2012-2013 FY and  announced a 5.6% increase to all fees and charges as approved by the TGA Executive Council at its meeting on 28 June 2012

    The CHC also reminds members of the Labelling and Packaging and NICNAS calls for comment.

    The CHC is seeking comment from you on the Review of the National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) Discussion Paper on the Review of the National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme. Comments addressing the questions outlined in the Alert or any other part of the discussion paper, can be sent to Emma Burchell at technical@chc.org.au by 6 July 2012.

    The CHC is seeking comment on the recommendations to change the presentation of information on the labels and packages of medicines, as outlined in the TGA Medicine Label and Packaging Review Consultation paper, version 1.0, May 2012. Comments are encouraged from all members and should be sent to Emma Burchell at technical@chc.org.au by 10 August 2012.

    Please be advised that the TGA has now completed changes to the ARTG entries of medicines affected by the update to herbal ingredient names and the deactivation of superseded herbal ingredient names was finalised on the 30 May 2012.
