Australian complementary medicines showcase strength at Healthplex 2026

CMA has once again showcased the strength of Australia’s complementary medicines industry on the global stage, proudly hosting the Australian Pavilion at Healthplex Expo 2026 in Shanghai.

Now in its fifth consecutive year, the Australian Pavilion continues to provide CMA members with a valuable platform to promote their products, manufacturing capabilities and expertise to buyers, distributors and industry partners from across China and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Held from 15–17 June alongside Hi & Fi Asia-China, Healthplex is one of the region’s leading health and nutrition exhibitions, attracting thousands of exhibitors and visitors from around the world. Throughout the three-day event, Australian exhibitors participated in a busy schedule of business meetings, networking opportunities and industry engagement activities, highlighting the continued demand for high-quality Australian complementary medicines.

This year’s pavilion was further strengthened through the support of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) under the Trade Diversification Network (TDN) program. Austrade facilitated targeted business matching meetings between Australian exhibitors and prospective Chinese partners, while also delivering a seminar on China’s new Decree 280 regulations, providing valuable market and regulatory insights.

Healthplex 2026 also marked the 10th anniversary of CMA’s partnership with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Medicines & Health Products (CCCMHPIE), recognising a decade of collaboration in strengthening trade relationships and supporting Australia’s complementary medicines industry in China.

Following Healthplex, CMA joined Austrade in leading a trade delegation to Chengdu in western China. While many Australian businesses naturally focus on Shanghai when entering the Chinese market, the delegation highlighted the significant opportunities emerging across West China and Tier 2 cities.

As one of China’s fastest-growing metropolitan centres, Chengdu has a strong focus on health, wellness and innovation. The visit provided valuable insights into consumer trends, distribution channels and future market opportunities, reinforcing the importance of looking beyond traditional export hubs as Australian businesses diversify their international growth strategies.

CMA extends its sincere thanks to this year’s Australian Pavilion exhibitors — Activated Probiotics, BJP Laboratories, Blackmores, Ferngrove Pharmaceuticals, Herbs of Gold, Lavida Pharmaceuticals and Longevity Life Sciences — for showcasing the quality, innovation and reputation of Australia’s complementary medicines sector. We also thank Austrade for its ongoing support in creating new opportunities for Australian exporters.
