CMA Launches 2025 Industry Snapshot

CMA is proud to officially launch the 2025 Industry Snapshot, the second annual edition of our flagship report capturing the scale, performance and direction of Australia’s complementary medicines sector.

The Snapshot provides a clear and compelling picture of where our industry stands, and where we’re heading. It captures key data and trends across product categories, exports, consumer demand, and innovation, while highlighting the broader economic and health impact of our sector.

This year’s report reveals a thriving, high-impact industry forecast to reach $6.3 billion in 2025, driven by strong domestic demand and expanding global markets. With 74% of Australians using complementary medicines — and most doing so proactively to maintain their health — these products are no longer on the margins. They are now a central part of the way Australians approach wellbeing, resilience and prevention.

It also highlights key milestones of the past 12 months. These include the reinstatement of private health insurance rebates for natural therapies, new labelling and probiotic regulations that better reflect industry realities, and streamlined TGA processes that support innovation without compromising safety.

CMA continues to lead strong, evidence-based advocacy to ensure our regulatory frameworks are fit for purpose, while also advancing sustainability through member tools and guidance like the CMA Guide to Decarbonisation.

The 2025 Industry Snapshot is both a celebration of our industry’s growth and a roadmap for the opportunities ahead.
